In March 2019 we purchased surgical laser equipment. We are one of the first practices in Cumbria to have permanent laser facilities for our equine patients. Laser is has mainly used for the removal of some types of sarcoid and skin melanoma. Laser surgery is often carried out under standing sedation and local anaesthetic, but in some circumstances general anaesthesia is preferable.
Laser surgery offers good cosmetic results in most cases and can lead to lower rates of recurrence compared to conventional surgery.
Laser surgery is usually performed at our surgery, but the equipment is mobile allowing the procedure to be done at your stable if transport to the surgery is a problem.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a case with one of our vets. We can usually offer appointments within a short time frame.
