Independent mixed practice in Penrith, Cumbria with full out of hours service

Welcome to Frame & Swift Limited

We are an independent and truly mixed practice based in Penrith, Cumbria with our own in-house full out-of-hours service. Our caring, friendly staff, on-call 24 hours a day, practice from our modern purpose built premises located on the outskirts of the town. Our patients benefit from excellent facilities at our clinic which caters for the care of Farm, Equine and Small Animal patients.

Our equine facilities include an equine operating theatre with separate padded knock-down, a covered examination area with stocks and stabling plus paddocks. For our small animals, we have four consultation rooms and extensive kennelling, as well as full digital imaging, operating and dentistry facilities.

Most of our farm animal patients will be seen ‘at home’ by one of our ambulatory large animal vets, but our in-clinic facilities include a lambing area and space for surgical procedures when needed. We are in a convenient location, close to the M6 and A66, with extensive on-site parking.

We hold the RCVS Practice Standards General Practice Accreditation for Farm, Equine and Small Animals. Between them, our vets hold postgraduate certificate qualifications in 7 fields.

Although the practice has diversified from its purely farm animal roots in the 1940s, providing emergency care and preventative medicine for farm animals remains at the heart of the practice. We cover all aspects of farming from dairy farms milking 500 Holsteins, 300 cow suckler herds and 3,500 head sheep flocks to small holdings with sheep, goats and alpacas or llamas.

Equine Vet in Cumbria

The equine side of the practice is constantly expanding and evolving. We cover all aspects of equine work from the elite performance horse to miniature Shetlands. When the practice moved to our current premises in the year 2000, it was essential that we invested in full hospitalisation and surgical facilities to enhance the level of care we can offer. The location of the practice, very close to major roads, means that your horse’s journey to us is as stress-free as possible.
