The Veterinary Centre

The Veterinary Centre at Carleton, Penrith was designed and built on a green field site in 2000 to meet the demands of the ever increasing work load of the long established practice of Frame, Swift and Partners. Its situation on the A686 near the M6 and A66 junctions allows easy access for farm and equine in-patients. It is also conveniently situated on the edge of town for small animal clients. Car parking is extensive for cars, horse boxes and trailers. We provide high standards of care and expertise in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Our large animal and equine facilities include secure indoor and outdoor examination areas, a large animal operating theatre and padded recovery room, internal stables, trot-up area, measuring pad and two large paddocks with additional stabling space.

There is a dedicated small animal operating theatre, an x-ray suite, extensive kennelling with separate rooms for dogs and for cats, a laundry and isolation kennelling.

These areas adjoin the preparation room where ultrasonography, dentistry, electrocardiography, endoscopy, blood pressure monitoring and other diagnostic and treatment procedures are carried out. This is also where patients are anaesthetised and prepared for surgery before being taken into the operating theatre, thereby maintaining the highest standards of surgical sterility.
