Information for New Clients
Welcome to Frame, Swift and Partners! The information provided here gives an outline of some of our core services. If you have any queries regarding our services or any aspect of our care for your animals then please do not hesitate to call the surgery.

Our practice is run from The Veterinary Centre in Carleton on the outskirts of Penrith. Full directions can be found on our website.

We are open from 8.30am-6.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am-1pm Saturdays and Bank Holidays. Small animal surgery times are 8.50-10.20am, 2pm-3pm and 4.30-6.20pm Monday to Friday and 8.50-10.20 on Saturdays.

Outside of practice opening times we run a full emergency service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There are two vets on-call at all times. If you need a vet out of normal hours please call the practice number. You will speak to a member of our answering service who will either arrange a vet to call you back or ask the vet to meet you at the surgery. For farm and equine clients the answering service will take your details and either arrange an immediate visit, or for the vet to call you.

In some circumstances your pet or horse may need to be admitted for in-patient care. If this happens they will be kept at the surgery for treatment. Although there is not usually a member of staff permanently on site overnight, the duty vets will monitor your animal as often as they feel their condition requires.

Sometimes patients develop conditions which require very specialised procedures. Should this be the case for your animal we may need to arrange a referral to a specialist centre. When this is required we will discuss the practicalities of referral fully with you, including cost, how to transport your pet or horse and any options other than referral.

Should you wish to have a second opinion on a case we can arrange for another of our vets to assess the case, or if you would prefer another practice to give an opinion we will forward all relevant records and results to the practice you have chosen.

Prescriptions are available from our practice. If you would like more information on prescriptions please contact the surgery.

We aim to provide a service that gives a high level of personal and clinical care. If you are in any way dissatisfied with any part of our service please contact us. We will take all complaints seriously and do all we can to investigate the cause of your dissatisfaction. We will provide you with a response to all complaints as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours.

We keep computerised records of all animals seen, whether small animals, equine or farm. All records are confidential between you and our practice and kept in accordance with the data protection act. Please ask us if you wish to see copies of your animal’s records.

If you would like any further details on any aspect of your service we would be very pleased to speak to you.
