Neil Frame became the second generation of Frames to work at the practice when he joined with Rona Frame in 1982 having both first worked in South Devon. By 1984 the practice had expanded enough to have outgrown the premises in Angel Lane. The surgery was moved to a larger centre in Brunswick Square, which at the time seemed big enough to last forever!

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s the workload increased and the number of vets rose to eight by the mid 1990s. "Frames" became "Frame and Swift" in 1994 when Chris Swift became a partner after joining the team in 1982. By the mid 1990s it was very clear that a new surgery was required if the practice was to maintain its ethos of continuing to develop and enhance the level and depth of service we could offer. We moved to the current purpose built site in March 2000. Since then we have added more stables and kennel space.
There were nine vets at the time of the move and we have now expanded to thirteen vets. In 2008 we became a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Accredited Tier 2 Practice in Farm, Equine and Small Animal disciplines. This means we passed, to RCVS satisfaction, a "rigourous inspection carried out by an experienced veterinary surgeon. Areas covered include hygiene, health and safety, and the facilities provided, to name just a few of the criteria". We are inspected every four years and may be subject to spot-checks at any time in order to maintain this certification.
