The equine side of the practice is constantly expanding and evolving. We cover all aspects of equine work from the elite performance horse to miniature shetlands. When the practice moved to our current premises in the year 2000 it was essential that we invested in full hospitalisation and surgical facilities to enhance the level of care we can offer. The location of the practice, very close to major roads, means that your horse’s journey to us is as stress-free as possible.

While we have up-to-date premises, it would be of limited use if we failed to maintain similar standards in our clinical practice. All our veterinary surgeons undertake regular Continuing Professional Development courses. Neil Frame and Sam Galloway are both holders of the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) Certificate in Equine Practice and Neil is currently one of the four national examiners in this qualification. Matt Colston worked in the reproduction department of Edinburgh University before he came to work in Cumbria, gaining skills in equine reproduction including AI and semen collection and evaluation. Julie Ullyart is currently training for her RCVS Equine Nursing exams. In 2008 the practice became an RCVS Accredited Tier 2 Equine Practice.
We maintain close links with local farriers and other equine professionals. The practice works at many local equestrian centres. We also provide veterinary cover for endurance riding competitions during the spring and summer.
